DOWNLOAD THE KELLY ASSOCIATES APP
Tuesday, May 28, 2013Kelly Associates now has a new app for your phone. We spend most of our time in the car so don’t wait to get home to find a listing, check it out right on your phone (not while driving but rather waiting for Johnny in the pickup line). In this busy market make sure you have as much information as possible when you are on the go. Our listings this spring had accepted offers (with multiple offers), both in just a couple short days. You need to get in as soon as possible and this app allows you to do that. Just go to the app store and search for Kelly Associates.
FLEA BITES
Friday, May 10, 2013We were touring the Open Houses on Tuesday, and decided to pop into Flea. They have just expanded their shop and now serve lunch. This is the BEST LUNCH IN TOWN. Nick (from the Rowayton Market) serves up the most delicious, fresh (as in he made the mayonnaise right in front of us, for us) and unique food. We couldn’t decide so we split the prosciutto, fig and ricotta sandwich and the Manchego and tomato sandwich. We also brought home a roast beef sandwich and a feta & watermelon salad.
If you want to sit outside and have a wonderful, fresh lunch, this is the place. Meet your girlfriends here!

Our local lust hits House Beautiful
Tuesday, February 12, 2013The color section is one of my favorite parts of House Beautiful. I even bought the special issue they put out a few years ago (and was also made into a book). I just love color on walls, and love to experiment even if I have to fix it (and yes, repaint a room). I could start a second hand paint sample store if I wanted to.
I jumped for joy when I saw our very own Annie Mahoney as one of the decorators talking about her favorite color. They were specifically talking about which color to use from room to room and the color was black…one of my favorites! Maybe I will break out the paint samples and pick a hall or room to try today.
Check out Annie’s new website…it is fantastic and full of her creative designs.

KESSA SCHAEFFER of Darien!
We loved how unique this display of antique ornaments looked in these vintage lights. The perfect way to keep them safe from little fingers or unstable trees. Kessa bought the lights in a store in New York called Olde Good Things on 24th Street. She intended to hang them in her home in Block Island, but her contractor told her they could not be wired. So she hauled them back home. She had a whole bunch of antique ornaments that she brought home from Brimfield (the blue, silver and purple ones) she decided to fill them with. The other one was filled with ornaments that her husband’s grandmother had when she passed away. She tells us that it is a wonderful reminder for her family of their grandmother and a unique and special way to preserve some old treasures. We know Miles Redd would agree!!!!
Thank you to everyone who submitted entries to our first annual Holiday Giveaway. It was so fun for us (but extremely hard to choose a winner) and we loved all the vignettes. Enjoy your new book Kessa…..it’s going to look great in that barn red farmhouse of yours!

Sister Parish Design trunk show and open house
Wednesday, October 24, 2012SISTER PARISH DESIGN is coming to Darien 10.25.12
Tuesday, October 16, 2012We are so pleased to launch our first Real in Darien event with Sister Parish Design. There is no doubt that the influence Sister Parish (Mrs. Henry Parish II) has had in the design world has seeped into our own philosophy at Real in Darien. Susan Bartlett Crater writes in her book, Sister Parish Design – On Decorating, that “the most important legacy of my grandmother Sister Parish is not solely in the realm of wonderful “taste”, but rather in the love of domesticity and the desire to create places within which families will laugh, escape and ultimately love.” That quote from Susan’s (and Libby Cameron’s) book precisely describes our approach when helping people find a new house. There is nothing more satisfying than getting to know a customer and finding a property that matches their needs and dreams – finding the house that is their “escape” and where their families will create their lives.
The recently launched Home Collection incorporates Sister Parish Design’s fabric patterns and aesthetic to home staples. Laminated trays and dust pans, napkins and tablecloths, desk and travel accessories, tote and duffle bags, notebooks, as well as dog leashes, collars and beds bring the whimsy and imagination of Sister Parish Design into every aspect of life and home. All will be on display and available for purchase. We have chosen the beautiful home at 593 Hollow Tree Ridge Road, available through Kelly Associates, for this wonderful event. Doors will open at 11am, and stay open until 3pm with a light lunch served. And then again from 6:30-9pm with wine and hors d’oevres. 10/25/12.
It will be a sensational trunk show. We are certain you will agree so don’t forget to mark your calendars!
A Bit of Background:
Sister Parish, the long time partner of Albert Hadley, ran her design firm for 60 years known as Parish-Hadley. As one of the great American decorators, Mrs. Henry Parish II continues to influence todays top decorators and those of us who love to create our own interiors.
“Sister Parish’s granddaughter Susan Bartlett Crater, and Libby Cameron, Sister Parish’s protégé and colleague, founded Sister Parish Design in order to bring Mrs. Parish’s favorite materials and prints to the general public. Susan and Libby have designed a collection of fabric inspired by the designs Sister loved and used in decorating her own houses. Their recently launched home collection provides an additional way to add charm and whimsy to any setting.”
(All images and some text used are from the sisterparishdesign.com site. Check it out. You will also love the fabric and wall papers available through your favorite decorator! In addition, quotes and references are from the book, Sister Parish Design – On Decorating or from the web site.)
